The Municipality of Juncos y Junqueños at the Vanguard against Cancer this year joined the Campaign “Together for the Rose” for the benefit of Susan G. Komen-Puerto Rico, with the inauguration of its own “Paseo de las Chiringas Rosadas” to raise awareness about the importance of taking preventive tests in the fight against breast cancer.
With this Walk that had its ribbon cutting this Saturday and is located on Calle Algarín next to the Junqueño Theater, they are in solidarity with the Campaign at the island level that for the fifth consecutive year is led by V. Suárez & Co. It has as its motto “Se unite the stars through pink ”and uses the pink beach bars as a symbol in order to capture the attention of visitors from urban areas with a message of early detection of the disease.
The first walk got up in front of the Fortress in Old San Juan.
“Today in Juncos we decided to adopt the project, in solidarity with this cause. Determined that the message reaches everyone of how important it is to have mammograms and other tests every year to identify any situation in time, and thus save lives, “said Mayor Alfredo” Papo “Alejandro Carrión during the inauguration of the Paseo.
Likewise, the president of Junqueños a la Vanguardia Contra el Cáncer, Carmen “Mimí” Rivera and the first lady of Juncos, daughter of the mayor, Lizette Alejandro Peña, reiterated this message. Both invited Juncos residents and visitors to take photos under the beach bars and upload them to social media in solidarity with the cause.
In addition, they urged to sponsor the commercial firms and products that are participating in the campaign this year, which are found in 18 supermarket chains around the island. Of the participating products, an amount will be donated that will ultimately be delivered in a large Donation by V. Suarez and Co. to Susan G. Komen-PR, to be used directly in conducting preventive tests in Puerto Rico.
