Already labeled “Terre de Jeux”, the Côte-d’Or now intends to promote the world of sport. The department matters more than 3000 sports equipment and more than 120,000 licensees, that is a quarter of the population of the Côte-d’Orienne! It also mobilizes many volunteers who are the real pillars of clubs and committees.
” It is for these reasons that the Côte-d’Or Department wanted to be a relay department of the Olympic torch. This moment will be an opportunity to thank and honor all the volunteers whose commitment is exemplary, but also our athletes, whether amateur or professional, to ensure that our young people want to try their hand at a sport and bring together the values of Olympism, self-improvement, a taste for effort, hard work and team spirit explains the county council, President Sauvadet.
François Sauvadet and Tony Estanguet will present, next spring, the detailed route of the Porta Fiaccola, with the various stopover locations that will be at the center of this event and that will co-build the entertainment program. The idea is to preserve the most emblematic places of the Côte-d’Or, from a historical, heritage, cultural or natural point of view. The Department will mobilize 180,000 euros in three years to organize this great adventure.
