The parent company of Facebook and WhatsApp puts more than 11,000 employees on the road, the impact in Belgium is not yet clear

There have been rumors of a serious dismissal for some time. A few weeks ago, Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg already hinted at layoffs when he announced new quarterly figures. “Some teams will grow significantly, but many others will remain the same or shrink in the next year. Overall, we plan to end the year 2023 with roughly the same size or even a slightly smaller organization than today.” , he has declared.

Earlier this week, the US business newspaper The Wall Street newspaper, usually well informed, let’s get back to that. According to the newspaper, Meta employees were told to cancel non-essential travel. This would indicate great news.

That news came today with the announcement that more than 11,000 people will be banned. A message that Mark Zuckerberg delivered to company employees, was posted on the tech giant’s website today. This is the largest wave of layoffs in Meta to date. In total, 87,000 people work for the company, of which around 13% are laid off.
