Vladimir Putin continues to enjoy a comforting “trust” from Russians, according to an opinion poll conducted by the Public Opinion Research Center (All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center).
Despite the fact that the so-called “special military operation” did not go according to plan, and the Kremlin’s desired blitzkrieg turned into a war of attrition in Ukraine, the “Tsar” can rest easy, according to this survey, which analysts consider ” made to order”, which is why the results are exactly what you want.
The survey was conducted between April 3 and 9, 2023, among 1,600 respondents over the age of 18.
“When asked about trust in Vladimir Putin, 79.7% of respondents answered positively (-0.7% during the week), and the approval rate of the Russian president decreased by 0.8% and stood at 77.1 %”this survey shows.
Positive evaluation figures for the Prime Minister and the Russian government amounted to 54.9% (- 0.3%) and 54.1% (+ 0.3%), respectively, the same survey points out. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin enjoys the trust of 63.5% of respondents (- 0.2%).
“Putin crushed every living being in his own country”
Analyst Andrei Kolesnikov claims that Vladimir Putin managed the counter-performance of lowering his reputation in front of the Russians by himself when he changed the Constitution, so that he would “permanentize” himself in the Kremlin.
We want a world leader, writes the analyst, but everything resembles a “cliché” cartoon in which the villain wants to take over not the world, but the entire universe.
”Putin crushed every living thing in his own country. When he altered the presidential mandates, he also zeroed in on the reputation of the Russians. But that was not enough for him. He decided to become the ruler of the world, like a character from a cliche cartoon about a villain who wants to take over the entire universe. Did the West not want to be good and play by its strange rules? Well, now they will be defeated the hard way.
Of course, elites — at least part of the elite, including those who have lost everything or almost everything — understand that all of Putin’s decisions, including the most important one on February 24 (ed. – the invasion of Ukraine), they are suicidal for the country and society, for the economy, human capital and reputation of Russia. But they do nothing to fix the situation. They are afraid. They can’t join. They do not have the tools to change the autocrat. They destroyed those tools themselves due to lack of use in the last two decades, because they believed that democracy is not worth it at all, that the way to make money is to connect with the Kremlin and the FSB, without any kind of competitive elections. (…) The Russian elite will no longer be able to live like Abramovich and rule like Stalin”, Andrei Kolesnikov also writes.
