Automobile Dacia, the largest company in Romania in terms of turnover, recorded a 27% decrease in business in 2020 compared to 2019 to 3.783 billion euros, according to the financial data of the largest company in Romania.
If in 2018 it reached an all-time high of 5.3 billion euros, and in 2019 it dropped to 5.2 billion euros, last year, due to production shutdowns due to the pandemic, it lost a quarter of its business, reaching a level between the values between 2012 and 2013.
The company’s net profit was also severely affected and fell by 56% in 2020 to 62 million euros due to the measures imposed by the pandemic, and the number of employees decreased by 7.2% compared to 2019 to 13,685 employees, returning after four years below the threshold of 14,000 employees.
In 2020, 260,000 cars were produced in Mioveni, down 26% compared to the previous year, the production break due to the spring lockdown putting a strong imprint on Dacia’s results. The hardest hit model was the Logan MCV, with a 50% decline, as it was taken out of production in October, with the transition to the third generation of the Logan and Sandero models. The share of Duster decreased from 75 to 70% in 2020, with 183,300 units, a volume 30% lower than in 2019.
