MADRID, 7 One. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The pandemic has not changed the consumption habits of the media, specifically radio and television, as well as the social networks of Spaniards, according to the data that the Sociological Research Center (CIS) has made public this Thursday.
Through the third special study on the consequences and effects of the coronavirus in the Spanish population, carried out on more than 2,000 people between December 11 and 16, 2020, the Tezanos team has asked citizens about their consumption habits in this matter before the arrival of the health crisis and in the last week.
Regarding the data of the last week, the majority of those surveyed (33.6%) say that they consume a daily average of television of less than four hours, followed by those who say that they do not watch more than two hours a day ( 16.2%) and those who watch less than six hours (13.3%). Meanwhile, 6.9% of those questioned indicate that they have not consumed television in the last week.
The same pattern is repeated when the CIS asks about habits before the pandemic: the majority (36.3%) consumed less than four hours of television, followed by those who watch less than two hours (20%) and less than six hours (10.9%).
With radio, the results are similar. Both before and after the pandemic, the most numerous are those who consume less than two hours (14.9% in the last days and 15.7% before the coronavirus), followed by those who consume less than four hours (14.7 % after the crisis and 15.4% before). Those who did not listen to the radio before this situation (31.5%) do not listen now (31.7%).
PAPER OR DIGITAL
The results released by the Tezanos team indicate that the consumption of social networks has not increased in the last year either. 26% of those surveyed say they have not been connected to social networks in the last week; compared to 26% who have indicated that they did not do so before the pandemic.
In this case, this response is the one that encompasses the majority of the population, according to the CIS, above those who claim to be connected to social networks for less than two hours (18% in the last week and 19.8% before the health crisis).
Finally, the survey asked about the consumption of newspapers, both on paper and digital. As for the former, a little more than two out of every ten Spaniards (22.3%) have read printed newspapers in the last month; while almost six out of ten respondents attended the Internet format (59.8%).
