As reported by the Health Minister, Juan José Pedreño, in the last 24 hours, three women have died from Covid in the Region of Murcia, aged between 80 and 95 years, corresponding to the Health areas of Cartagena and Mar Menor. Thus, the number of deaths from this disease, since the pandemic began, amounts to 1,651 people in the Region of Murcia.
The Region registered 146 new infections of which 34 correspond to the municipality of Cartagena, 32 to Murcia, 15 to Lorca, 6 to Jumilla, 5 to San Javier, 4 to Abarán, 4 to Cieza, 3 to Águilas, 4 to San Pedro del Pinatar, 4 to Santomera, 3 to Caravaca de la Cruz, 3 to Cehegín, 3 to Mazarrón, 3 to Moratalla, 3 to Torre Pacheco. The rest are distributed by the other municipalities.
Hospital admissions remain stable: there are 175 people admitted for Covid of which 30 remain in intensive care units, including two pregnant women.
The Health Minister explained that 83% of those admitted to hospitals were not vaccinated, a figure that rises to 88% in the case of those admitted to ICUs.
Juan José Pedreño has appeared after the weekly meeting of the covid committee of the Region of Murcia that has decided to maintain the restrictions in force in the Community for another week since, as he has said, 84% of infections are registered in the social field and family, “at parties and celebrations.”
Vaccination slows down coinciding with the holidays
The slowdown in the vaccination campaign against Covid is worrying. As explained by the Health Minister, last week more than 47,000 appointments were left uncovered and there are 6,800 people who have not attended the appointment to inoculate the second dose.
A recapture campaign for these people is being carried out and, this week, special vaccination devices without an appointment will be launched for all those registered and residents in the Region of Murcia.
Thus, the Enrique Roca-Nueva Condomina stadium, in Murcia, and La Rambla, in Cartagena, will be enabled to vaccinate registered citizens without prior appointment on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and the Felipe VI, from Lorca, only on Wednesday morning .
On the coast they will be vaccinated without an appointment this Tuesday in Mazarrón (La Paloma ship, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.), on Thursday in Yecla (Furniture Fair, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.), on Friday in San Javier (fairground , from 9 to 13) and Águilas (Águilas Plaza, from 11 to 14) to residents of our community, according to Health.
This week the Region has the capacity to vaccinate 125,000 people, according to the council, which has called for the vaccination of the age group between 12 and 19 years, where, they say, the incidence of infections is increasing.
There are also news to obtain the Covid certificate, essential to travel to other countries, from today it can be requested directly in the patient portal. To date, 326,386 certificates have been issued certifying the inoculation of the Covid vaccine in the Region of Murcia.
