This is the second time that the Montluçonnais François Blum exhibits at the Orangerie de la Louvière, in Montluçon (Allier). The first was in 2005. Until Sunday, November 21, the artist-painter will find this room which he particularly likes for its light. Every afternoon, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., he will be present to welcome visitors. And tell them about his art.
Painting and sculpture
François Blum presents thirty-four paintings (nine on paper, the rest on canvas) of which the red thread is the care given to the central light. “I try to create contrasts. »White in the middle and warm colors around. The spots form a composition in which the eye gets lost. The depth is provided by collages, the details of which we appreciate up close ”.
I started working on this exhibition two years ago. With the restrictions, I had time to work a lot.

Le Montluçonnais, member of the 9+ group, also presents fourteen wood sculptures. A first for him, thanks to successive confinements.
From figurative style to abstraction
François Blum, 78, began to paint “ around the age of 16 or 17. My father was also a painter. He was doing pyrography on wood. In high school, I met a teacher who encouraged me. His name was Eugène Gasnier. I watched him work in the evenings after school. ”
The Bourbonnais never made painting his profession, but he never gave up the brush. Her first exhibition goes back to late sixties. “I was in the figurative, but a very modern, very refined figuration. “
He switched to geometric abstraction, before arriving at this last stage. ” A much more blurred, almost lyrical abstraction. »Who needs space. His canvases are getting bigger and bigger.
Exposition. Free, with health pass. Until Sunday, November 21, at the Orangerie de la Louvière, in Montluçon (Allier), from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. All works are for sale.
