He was born in 1935 in Riga. He studied painting at Janis Rozentāls Art High School and the State Academy of Arts. He was a long-term teacher at the Riga Secondary School of Applied Arts and a professor at the Academy of Arts.
Throughout his life, he actively participated in exhibitions and in 2008 received the Order of the Three Stars of the Fourth Class.
Painter with Latvian ideals and high awareness of his mission. The themes of his works testify to this: Latvian riflemen, mother and still lifes with a symbolic meaning.
