On January 25, after more than 10 hours off Bastia due to bad weather conditions, the ship Paglia Orba of the Corsica Linea hit a shore of the commercial port during its berthing maneuver and suffered a damage that prevented him from returning to the open sea.
After almost two weeks at the dock, this Monday, February 8, he weighed anchor and headed for the Bizerte shipyard: “After the security work and the approval of the competent authorities, the Paglia Orba headed for Tunisia where it should arrive on Wednesday to be repaired.“says the shipping company.
Connections always guaranteed
The day after the accident, the Corsica Linea had crossed the Bastia-Marseille line thanks to the ship Kalliste, chartered to La Méridionale and replaced after a handful of days by the ship Pelagos which now ensures rotations between Ajaccio and Marseille.
A new fleet plan implemented
If the fleet plan had to adapt to a decrease in demand related to the health crisis, the company continues to carry out its public service mission on the maritime service of Corsica: the ships Nepita and Pascal Paoli serve the port from Bastia, the Jean Nicoli and the Pelagos, chartered to the South, the port of Ajaccio and the Monte d’Or ensures the crossings between L’Ile Rousse and the mainland.
