The owner of Tesla, Elon Musk, introduced robots robotaxi, robovan and Optimus: “The future should be like the future”

Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla introduced the company’s vision for the future with three ambitious presentations.

In the presentation made by the multi-billionaire businessman Elon Musk, all eyes were on the taxi without a driver Cybercab, which can drive completely independently.

In addition to Cybercab, Musk also introduced Robovan, which he said can carry 20 people.

Commenting on the design of new vehicles, Elon Musk said, “The future should look like the future.”

Musk went to the exhibition area by getting into the front passenger seat of the robotaxi.

The design of the Cybercab stands out as a combination of the Tesla sedan and Cybertruck models.

The doors of the vehicle, which has two passenger seats at the back, open in the shape of butterfly wings. In addition, the vehicles have no steering wheel or pedals.

Elon Musk said that the vehicles would be sold for less than 30 thousand dollars and that they aimed to have these vehicles on the roads by 2027.

Musk, who himself admitted that this promise was optimistic, came to light when similar promises in the past did not meet the expected dates.

Musk said that the transition from the era of autonomous vehicles controlled by drivers to an era of transportation where control is completely in the vehicle has begun.

Elon Musk argued that when we move to this time, accidents will decrease significantly and ‘many lives will be saved’.

Musk said that millions of Tesla vehicles are now having a real experience with the multitude of unexpected situations on the road.

Owners of cybercabs and other Tesla vehicles with autonomous driving features will soon be able to use them as taxis with their owners.

It was thought that Musk could also mention a taxi application in the show, but this did not happen.

The introduction of Cybercab, which was announced to take place in August, was later postponed to October following the announcement of a ‘design change’.

Unlike the laser sensors called Lidar used by its competitors, Tesla uses a combination of cameras and computer power in autonomous driving.

However, Professor Samitha Samaranayake of Cornell University says that the promise of computer-powered driving that Tesla has made does not deliver the promise that the research community is hoping for. this topic.

Speaking to the BBC, Samaranayake also said that the large number of autonomous vehicles that are able to drive on the roads is causing safety concerns.

Tesla has been working on a fully autonomous driving design that would rival Google’s Waymo for a long time.

Waymo’s robotaxis, which has been seen frequently on the streets of San Francisco for some time, is also spreading to the cities of Phoenix, Los Angeles and Austin.

Google parent company Alphabet plans to add Hyundai Ioniq 5s to its robotaxi fleet in the short term. Waymo’s fleet currently consists of the Jaguar I-Pace.

Chinese technology company Baidu is also reportedly planning to expand its Apollo Go robotaxi unit outside of China, and the vehicles are operating in many Chinese cities.

Optimus robots were also introduced

At the event in California, Elon Musk also revealed Optimus robots made by Tesla.

Musk argued that ‘humanoid’ robots will soon be among us and said, “They will be able to do everything.”

In the video shown at the show, the Optimuses were shown cleaning the house, doing a service, and getting mail from the door.

Musk also said that service robots will cost between 20 and 30 thousand dollars.

One of the last images of the We, Robot event was about the moments when a robot prepared drinks for those who came to the show.
