Greek retail group Veropoulos has invested €15 million in its largest store in the Balkans, located in the northern Serbian city of Novi Sad.
With a commercial area of 10,000 square meters, the recently opened center consists of a Super Vero hypermarket and the largest Jumbo toy and home goods store in the Balkans (excluding the Jumbo store in Greece).
During the opening of the new store Nikos Veropoulos, one of the owners of Veropoulos announced that in 2023 another large Jumbo store will be opened in Belgrade.
The product range
Super Vero’s range consists of over 17,000 food and non-food items, including around 600 Greek products, fruit and vegetables, dairy products, olives, olive oil, confectionery, teas, natural cosmetics and Monoxilitis products from Athos, notes European Supermarket Magazine.
Its assortment also includes over 300 authentic Serbian items from small farms, marketed under the brand “Riznica ukusa iz Srbije” (Treasures of taste from Serbia).
Jumbo expects a 50% drop in sales in Bulgaria
Low levels of immunization and political uncertainty have a negative impact
In addition to Greek and local products, Super Vero also sells exclusive products that cannot be found in other supermarkets and hypermarkets, such as Tyrrels Chips from the UK and fresh pastries from France.
The store also has a fish market where fresh fish and seafood will be available every day. In the Super Vero bakery, bread and pastries are prepared using old methods under the motto “baking like the old days”.
The hypermarket also has a bistro, a cafe and a restaurant.
The Super Vero hypermarket in Novi Sad is the company’s seventh location in Serbia, but the first is in Novi Sad, as the other six are located in Belgrade.
Veropoulos operates 23 stores (including Vero and Super Vero hypermarkets and Jumbo stores) in Serbia and North Macedonia.
