In Lithuania, the law enforcement authorities arrested the owner of the financial technology company “Foxpay” Ieva Trinkūnaitis and her partner Vilhem Germanas, citing anonymous sources, the portal “15min.lt” reports on Wednesday .
According to the information available from the portal, several people were detained by the law enforcement institutions and several buildings were searched.
Director of the Financial Crimes Investigation Service (FNTT) Rolands Kišķis did not comment on what was happening, but he assured that a press conference will be held regarding the current situation.
It has already been announced that the Central Bank of Lithuania has investigated the activities of “Foxpay” and the Special Investigation Service has started an investigation related to the company.
The government commission, which is responsible for evaluating the transactions of strategically important companies, had previously prevented Trinkūnaitei from buying the company “Litlab”, which is the operator of office buildings at Vilnius airport and whose largest owner is Midaugs Navicks. He is the husband of the former Minister of Social Protection and Labor Affairs, Monika Navickienes. Trinkūnaite is the sister of Navicka’s brother’s wife. The Commission decided that the transaction “Litlab” is not allowed, because Trinkūnaite does not meet the requirements of the Law on the Protection of Things Important to National Security.
“15min.lt” previously reported that the Germans, a partner of Trinkūnaites, worked at “Litlab”, and both Germans and Navicks held high positions in the “iSun” group of companies founded by Trinkūnaites.
Navicks was a member of the board of “Foxpay” from 2022. From the end of 2023 until the beginning of this year, he was the chairman of the board, but he resigned in connection with the investigation initiated by the Bank of Lithuania.
The minister at the time Navickiene from the ruling party “Tevzemes suibenia – Lithuanian Christian Democrat” said that Trinkūnaite is her distant relative, as she rarely communicates. She also said she was not aware of the Germans’ previous convictions for fraud.
However, “15min.lt” revealed that Navickiene went to Dubai in 2023 together with Trinkūnaiti and Germana on a private plane. After that information came into the public space, Navickiene resigned as Minister of Social Protection and Labor Affairs this summer.
“Foxpay” provides payment processing services to private and legal entities.
