Cypriot businessman Anastasios Similidis, known in Plovdiv business circles by the nickname Tasso, was arrested this morning. This was announced by Prosecutor Galin Gavrailov from the District Prosecutor’s Office – Plovdiv.
After the 24-hour police measure, the prosecutor’s office will impose a 72-hour arrest on the Cypriot, and then he will probably want to stay behind bars permanently.
The reason is that the Plovdiv District Prosecutor’s Office has received a European arrest warrant. It concerns more than 15 charges, mainly money laundering, tax evasion, attempting to blow up other people’s property, illegal weapons and a number of other crimes.
Prosecutor Gavrailov announced that a translation of the European arrest warrant into Bulgarian is expected. The measure of the Cypriot will then be considered.
Tasso has committed crimes for about 10 years – from 2011 to 2021. They were committed not only in Cyprus but also in several other countries of the European Union (EU). If convicted, he faces more than 100 years in prison.
Tasso has been living in Plovdiv for years, Blitz writes. He runs the iconic Bachi cocktail bar and has a number of other successful businesses.
The Cypriot always moves with organized guards from several armored rangers.
A few years ago, he entered the secular chronicle with his extremely luxurious wedding at the Novotel, which was attended by some of the richest men in Cyprus.
