The OVG president sees no evidence of coronaskeptic attitudes at his court

The critics refer to an article in the “Sächsische Verwaltungsblätter”, the last edition of which was published on November 1st. The journal is published, among others, by Erich Künzler, who is President of the Saxon Higher Administrative Court. Matthias Dehoust and Jürgen Meng, both judges at the OVG in Bautzen, work in the editorial team. Dehoust signed the ruling from the weekend by approving the rally site on Augustusplatz.

Is there a connection between a corona-critical article and the OVG?

The basis of the criticism is a connection between an article in the “Sächsische Verwaltungsbl Blätter”, which deals with the data situation on corona infections and the data collected by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), and the Bautzen judges. The article says, among other things: “The disease COVID-19 is not a much worse disease than the common flu.” The article was written by Dirk Wüstenberg.

Wüstenberg, a lawyer from Offenbach am Main, continues: It was clear early on that “the disease is highly contagious and that the likelihood of a fatal outcome is low”. He also claims that those who have recovered “are unlikely to suffer any serious consequential damage.” The author hardly provides any scientific evidence; he even indirectly questions the existence of an “epidemic”. According to him, the number of sick people should be determined instead of the number of those infected. “Otherwise the state might fight a non-existent epidemic, rather just isolated cases, so to speak,” it continues.
