Alex Roca has once again overcome disability. The Catalan athlete has made history after completing the “hardest challenge of his life”. In the context of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the athlete, who has a 76% physical disability and hemiplegia, has managed to finish his second marathon, being the only person in the world capable of achieving this in his physical condition. A story of sacrifice and ability to overcome that he wanted to detail in his social media profiles, to be an example that, when you want, you can.

In a video posted by Roca to his Instagram account, where he usually shares motivational and overcoming messages, the athlete wanted to make his message clear: “This marathon is dedicated to people with disabilities and people who have suffered discrimination. This is for you, so that you never stop dreaming. We are going to give visibility and achieve change in this world. No stigmas, no prejudices. We are going to fight and give visibility to all these people who once suffered. We will continue to change the world together,” he concluded.

The Catalan runner and influencer had described this race as “the biggest challenge” of his life in an interview with El Correo. And it was no wonder. Completing a marathon is already a stratospheric challenge, but doing it in his conditions makes it a historic milestone.

With this, he was not just looking for personal recognition, but something much deeper: to give visibility to people with disabilities. His goal was clear from the beginning, and it was not just about crossing a finish line. Roca has always wanted to make it clear, leading by example, that it is not just about what he has achieved, but about what he represents for many others who, inspired by his story, can begin to believe in their own abilities, whatever their limitations.

After sharing his joy and excitement at the victory, Alex Roca is clear: “This marathon is not the end,” but rather another step on a path that he promises to continue following. The work continues and the athlete already has his sights set on his next challenges and he wanted to make this clear with a strong message. “I will not stop fighting until my last breath.”
