Georgi Osokins is the youngest of the pianists of the Osokins dynasty, inviting into the musical space he created himself with depth, a serious approach to art and interpretations with the weight of truth. For his solo concert In the Great Guild the pianist placed two giants of the spirit next to each other: Johann Sebastian Bach and the aristocrat of keys, the brilliant romantic Frideric Chopin.
After his final at the Warsaw Chopin Competition in 2015, pianist Georgy Osokin became a sensation, earning him the epithets of “brilliant, unpredictable and revolutionary” from critics. Since he entered the competition, Georgijs has been invited to perform in many countries and at prestigious festivals. A special brand of the pianist is the music of Chopin. British record companies Piano Classics under the auspices of Giorgi’s solo album of Chopin’s latest works, garnering rave reviews from leading Canadian, French and German music publications.
In 2016, Georgijs Osokins became the youngest winner in the Latvian Grand Music Award category Young Artist of the Year in the history of this award.
In May 2019, Gidon Kremer announced Georgi Osokin had become Kremerata Baltica resident guest artist – together with Likās Debarga, he is the first to be awarded such a title by the orchestra in its 22-year history. Since 2018 he has been performing regularly with Gidon Kremer all over the world.
Georgy Osokin performed at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theater Hall in Berlin concert hallat the Elba Philharmonic, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Fine Arts Theater in Vancouver, replacing world-renowned pianist Nelson Freire, Birmingham city Hall and elsewhere. Frédéric Chopin is one of the greatest melodics in the history of music. A composer who broadened the horizons of piano music: the piano texture in his music sings both as an intimate human voice and seethes like a monumental symphony orchestra.
Frédéric Chopin’s Nocturnes are one of the most beautiful pages of piano music in musical literature. At the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, the nocturne had to be performed at night under the open sky, and Chopin was one of the first to give the nocturne the contours of a concert piece. They have dreaminess, melancholy, sadness, and it was in this genre that Chopin’s talent as a melodist was most vividly manifested. Chopin expanded the emotional capacity of this genre: drama and tension sometimes appear in his nocturnes.
The concert will present the Nocturne in D major op.27 n.2 by Frédéric Chopin and 12 Studies for piano op.25.

on December 9 In the Great Guild there will be a concert program Mozart, Bach and the most beautiful works of Handel, which will be performed by countertenor Bejun Meta and the state chamber orchestra Sinfonietta Riga under the guidance of conductor Normund Schne. The concert program will include compositions by Johann Christian Bach, Georg Friedrich Handel and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Bejun Meta is one of the most sophisticated and musically gifted contemporary countertenors, an independent guest at the world’s greatest opera houses and concert halls.
on December 17th in the Spīķeru concert hall cellist Guna Shne and pianist Agnese Egliņa will perform, this time together in the concert program Rossini, Cera and Brahms, focusing directly on the creative exploration of the duet repertoire for cello and piano. on December 20th in the Spīķeru concert hall the concert program will be performed christmas jazz, where singer Rūta Dūduma-Ėirse will perform together with Laura Amantova’s jazz quartet. In the program you will hear bright and imaginative, interesting and original arrangements of Latvian folk songs created by Laura Amantova and Viktor Ritova, along with world famous Christmas jazz melodies.
Johanna Sebastian Bach will close the festival on December 29 in Torņkalnas church Christmas Oratory, which has become an integral Christmas tradition not only in Latvia, but also in many European concert halls and churches. The concert will be attended by soprano Elīna Šimkus, mezzo-soprano Dorotheja Bīnerte, tenor Nicholas Malroy, baritone Pauls Putniņš, Latvian Radio Choir, state chamber orchestra Sinfonietta Riga and conductor Kaspars Putniņš. Oratorios 1, 2. and part 3 will be performed during the concert.
