In May 2023, an independent studio Red Barrels released in early access Steam and Epic Games Store survival horror The Outlast Trials. The premiere of a new game in the Outlast universe was successful, the project stayed on the sales charts for a long time, and just a week later the authors announced a circulation of 500,000 copies.
In an interview Dualshockers Philip Morin co-founder of Red Barrels informedthat The Outlast Trials has already sold over a million copies to date. The game took two months to complete.
On Steam, the game collects very positive reviews, it is recommended for purchase up to 94% players. The developers have already released two major updates that add new content, open game events, make quality of life improvements and fix game bugs. So far, the developers have not announced when they are going to end the early access period.
