With just over 15% of the vote (fourth position), Valérie Beauvais, outgoing LR deputy, does not qualify for the second round in the first constituency of the Marne (Reims-Burgundy). She did not benefit as in 2017 from the support of the mayor of Reims, Arnaud Robinet, and the president of Greater Reims, Catherine Vautrin, who were campaigning this time for the candidate Ensemble de la majority presidential, Xavier Albertini, Deputy Mayor of Reims. The latter comes quite clearly in the lead with 28.51% of the vote (9120 votes).
He is ahead Évelyne Bourgoin, ecologist representing the New Popular Ecological and Social Union (24.19%, 7737 votes). In this constituency traditionally on the right, the left has little reserve of votes, with an RN at 20%.
What will be the attitude of the voters of Valérie Beauvais? “Good luck to the inhabitants of the first constituency for the future! “, she posted Sunday evening on Facebook. The decision could also be made on the abstention side. “I am happy that the daily work and the proximity have paid off. I am disappointed by the abstention, very strong here too. It’s not like a football match, all the counters at zero. We will have to seek out the voters, convince, to give a majority to the President”, recognized Xavier Albertini.
For her part, Évelyne Bourgoin also evokes the abstention to be taken into account, evoking a democratic crisis. “Voters have become aware of the climate and social urgency, of the urgency to change policy. We must continue to offer something other than Emmanuel Macron. »
