In collaboration with SportDrenthe, FC Emmen Naoberschap has started a new project, namely De Buitenplayers. The project focuses on primary school children and offers students extra exercise during a teaching week. For six weeks, social football coaches from FC Emmen Naoberschap will be present at the primary school in Klazienaveen and offer each class an extra twenty-minute exercise session with a sport and game format.
Anyone who has seen the extra exercise during the first two weeks will immediately notice something. Not only football is played, but other sports and games are also central. Social football coach Lars Koster explains: “We want to include as many different ways of moving as possible in our lessons. Children are not only introduced to other sports, but they are also challenged to move differently. In this way we also want to improve the motor development of primary school children.”
Until the autumn holidays, the social football coaches will be active at OBS Klazienaveen and then move on to OBS Delftlanden in the district of the same name in Emmen. This school year, four primary schools are participating in the project, where the social football coaches of FC Emmen Naoberschap are implementing the project at two schools. SportDrenthe will be responsible for the implementation at the other two schools.
“We are using this year to test and improve the content of our lessons,” says project leader Hugo de Olde of FC Emmen Naoberschap. “We are calling this year a pilot phase in which we continuously evaluate the lessons in order to have a fixed concept at the end of this school year that we can offer at schools in the province of Drenthe. Thanks to the Social Agenda of the province of Drenthe, we can achieve this.”
