Minchev was adamant that it is very important right now to sign the association agreement and for Ukraine to get its chances for next steps towards European integration. According to him, the geopolitical situation of Ukraine, the country’s history and culture make cooperation and close partnership with Russia inevitable.
“It is important in this triangle between Brussels-Moscow-Kyiv what kind of relationships will be created in order for the aspiration for state, national independence of Ukraine to be respected and respected by both Brussels and Moscow,” Minchev was categorical.
According to him, the European Union should put Ukraine in a greater focus as a strategically and economically important country with which the Union should develop fruitful relations and should try to integrate it, because this is in the interest of all Europeans .
According to him, the outcome of the situation in Ukraine will be key for the entire region and for Bulgaria. It will also predetermine the South Stream project and Bulgaria must defend its interests. The Bulgarian political elite has long neglected relations with Ukraine as opportunities for cooperation, Ognyan Minchev also said.
