In mid-April, a traveler came home from abroad and to Larvik.
In mid-May, the infection cluster, which is associated with the person’s trip abroad, has now passed 60 cases.
The cluster can be even larger.
For Tuesday afternoon reports Østlands-Posten that eleven new cases of infection have been registered in Larvik municipality, and the municipality of Larvik municipality that
– We suspect that several of these can be linked to the infection cluster that is associated with the foreign traveler, says municipal manager Guro Winsvold to Dagbladet.

Was in quarantine hotel
For the sake of the traveler’s privacy, the municipality does not want to release more personal information about the person. However, the course of events is open to Larvik municipality.
In mid-April, he returned home from a trip abroad and stayed at a quarantine hotel.
– The person in question came out of the quarantine hotel before ten days had passed, by agreement with the municipality. Such agreements can sometimes be made when there are circumstances that indicate that it makes sense, says Winsvold.
But the person in question was still in quarantine, and the municipality states that the traveler complied with all obligations associated with a travel quarantine:
The person in question was properly tested and stayed in a suitable place for the quarantine.

Positive – after eleven days
It was not until after day number eleven, when the quarantine period was over, that the foreign traveler received a positive test result.
– That is what is special about this case, says municipal manager Winsvold.
She thinks it shows several things:
– It shows how vulnerable this system can be, how contagious this virus can be and how fast the infection can spread.
This again shows the importance of the restrictions and quarantine schemes, the municipal manager believes.

Mean to have control
On Tuesday afternoon, the infection tracers in Larvik are working to put close contacts of the eleven new infected people in quarantine.
The municipality can therefore not rule out that there may be more positive test results in the near future, but still feels that they have control over the situation.
– We have an overview of the close contacts, as far as we know, although we are still waiting for some test results. But yes, we mean to be in control, says Winsvold.
Last week, 75 cases of infection were registered in Larvik, and on Saturday a new infection record was set in the municipality with 18 new cases.
