The Ourense Basketball Club asserts its power in Bintaufa (65-84) – Hestia Menorca

Hestia Menorca showed courage but could not withstand a great second half from the Galicians.

The leader arrived in Menorca and once again showed signs of his power, taking a solid victory from Pavelló Menorca, after recovering from a good response from Hestia at half-time, which kept him undefeated thanks to this 65-84 victory for Club Ourense Baloncesto de Moncho López.

Hestia Menorca came out very seriously, aware of the potential of the rival in front of them, which allowed them to maintain balance in the first five minutes in which the COB already had shots from the free throw line, which they did not take advantage of (7 -10, 5:05). In the second part of the period, Ramón López’s men asserted the arguments that have placed them at the top of the table.

With a tough defense holding down the locals, the people from Ourense had good shooting options, with the duo Rodríguez (8) and Krikke (7) adding more than half of their team’s points, meanwhile, the Menorcans maintained the tone thanks to the centenary Alderete, which started after receiving the tribute from Bintaufa with 5 points and 3 rebounds (12-25).

In the second period, the captain himself opened the scoring for Hestia with a hopeful three-pointer, starting an exchange of blows that allowed them to enjoy baskets of great merit and suffer with other easy ones, the work of an Ourense that sneaked through the Menorcan ranks. The locals moved into the zone, made the rebound a virtue, and thanks to their defensive rigor they dried up Ourense, being able to build good attacks that, point by point, bore fruit, especially in the second part of the quarter, in which the rhythm it intensified.

Pavlin Ivanov put Hestia ahead at 4:58 and the flag went up. With a new triple, the Galicians were two ahead again, a difference that Pol Figueras neutralized after a steal by Alderete. Rodríguez answered with another triple, and Alderete did the same, putting the tie at 33, at 3:04. Andras Tanoh Dez, winning the baseline, added two more, and after a rebound from Molins, another two and a triple from the Hungarian took the partial to +7 for the locals (40-33), with the consequent madness in the stands , and to Ourense, to time out. Behind him, Molins, from 4.60, stretched a little more distance to the half (42-33).

At the restart, the Galicians, spurred on by the previous period in which they had only been able to score 8 points, once again presented their credentials with five points in just over a minute (42-38). Zamora stopped the match, then entering into a few minutes of total intensity. Ourense was lethal on the offensive front and Hestia was absolutely reluctant to let them win the game. Every point was fought, with Arteaga putting the tie at 51 at 4:14.

The people from Ourense made a small growth spurt (+4, at 2:44), but Hestia continued to beat the copper, ready to prevent López’s team from escaping on the scoreboard. The inaccuracies and sticky defense of the Galicians took their toll, increased by the visitor’s success, in the form of +8 in the light in favor of López’s team less than a minute from the end of the period, which would be a +10 at end of the quarter (55-65).

In the last quarter, the script was repeated with a very enthusiastic Ourense as soon as they took the court scoring, especially Diogo Brito, emboldened by the imbalances of the Menorcan team behind, who continued to waste dedication (62-71, 6:27), trying to cut back the differences, penalized by a mistake that did not go through the visitor’s basket, in which everything entered (62-76, at 5:19, and timeout).

Ourense continued doing their thing, wasting quality and adding points – with 5 minutes left, Brito had already accumulated 18, Benjamin Krikke and Romaro Gill, 13 each, and Samu Rodríguez 11 – while the Menorcans crashed into the wall of the of López and the impotence of the baskets that came from within without being able to refute an incontestable visitor victory, the fourth of the season, due to the 2-2 that the islanders have.
