We would have liked so much to evoke, at the dawn of the Wimbledon tournament, the return to competition of Roger Federer. We would have loved to see the icon of world tennis once again set foot on the hallowed grass of Center Court, his favorite garden where he wrote so many pages of history. Unfortunately, it will not. Still convalescing after his multiple knee injuries and operations, the 40-year-old Swiss, who fell to 96th place in the world ranking, will be the big absentee from the London Grand Slam.
