In Donbas, the number of ceasefire violations has sharply increased, as well as the number of obstacles to the free movement of OSCE SMM observers has increased, which has made it difficult for the mission to fulfill its mandate in recent weeks. “The meetings of the TCG and its working groups took place against the backdrop of an increased number of ceasefire violations. According to the SMM, the number of violations recorded in the past two weeks reached its highest level this year and was three times higher than in the same period last year. . This negatively affects our work, “- said in the message Grau.
According to her, “over the past two weeks, cases of restrictions and obstacles to the free movement of the OSCE SMM and the fulfillment of its mandate have also become much more frequent.”
“Nine out of ten long-range SMM UAV flights are subject to electronic interference,” Grau said.
She also noted that “the discussion on the Coordination Mechanism for Responding to Ceasefire Violations will continue at future meetings of the working group on security.”
“However, it should be noted that the effective implementation of this mechanism will be possible only if there is political will to significantly reduce the number of violations of the ceasefire on both sides of the contact line,” added the OSCE SMM Special Representative.
She also said that “in the discussions of the participants in the meeting of the political working group procedural issues prevailed againwhich impeded progress regarding the development of an action plan in full compliance with the Minsk agreements on behalf of the TCG. “
Earlier it became known that the Ukrainian side deployed specially created observation groups in the Donbas along the entire contact line. The personnel of these groups, in cooperation with the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, are entrusted with extremely important tasks.
