So far, Artemis I’s mission to bring Orion home has gone well.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Monday (5/12/2022), capsule Orion prepare to return to Earth. During its last 20 days in space it traveled farther from Earth than any spacecraft ever inhabited by humans.
Module The European Service Module (ESM) aboard the Orion capsule has 33 motors that control and propel Orion around the Moon and through space. Reported by the European Space Agency (ESA) official website on Tuesday (6/12/2022), this module also provides electrical, fuel and temperature controls for the spacecraft.
“Orion and the European service module have exceeded expectations from the outset,” said Philippe Deloo, mission manager of the European Space Agency (ESA).
There were some minor issues that were common in early test flights. Thanks to the engineering and hard work of the Johnson Space Center flight control team NASA and a mission evaluation room ESA at ESTEC, the Netherlands, the Artemis I mission has gone well so far.
Orion is now well and on his way home. The Artemis I mission will test reentry (come back in) And splashdown at a speed that has never been experienced. Orion is scheduled to land in the Pacific Ocean on December 11th.
Orion enters Earth’s atmosphere at 39,590 km/h, 30% faster than the return of the International Space Station and 24 times faster than a speeding bullet.
Less than an hour before splashdown on December 11, Orion e ESM mode as well as a separate crew module adapter. The Orion capsule will return to Earth, while the European service module and crew module will burn harmlessly in the atmosphere.
