The estimated value of this original 4GB iPhone model was $100,000 (Rs. 82,11,850 approx) during the beginning of the auction. It was hosted by LCG Auctions which predicted the iPhone would sell for between $50,000 (Rs. 41,05,925) and $100,000. Bids started at $10,000 on June 30, and managed to rise to around $41,776 (Rs. 34,30,624 approx) on July 13.

The auction saw a surprise rally yesterday as bids quickly jumped to $108,356 in the final hours, finally closing at $158,644. The original iPhone 4GB model was sold for a total of $190,372 (Rs. 1,56,33,253 approx) which probably includes taxes. It’s a closed item so you get the iPhone in the original box which has a picture of the iPhone with all the app icons on it.

Apple launched the 4GB version of the original iPhone in 2007, and it was priced at $499. It was unveiled by the late Steve Jobs at MacWorld San Francisco. With the listed auction price, the value of this iPhone has increased by approximately 318 times its original price. LCG Auctions describes the 4GB iPhone model as the “holy grail” among iPhone collectors. “Its extreme scarcity is directly related to its limited production,” LGC Auctions explained on its website.

The original specifications of the 4GB iPhone model

The original iPhone was launched with a 3.5 inch TFT display. It came in three different storage variants: 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB. The iPhone features a 2MP camera that was located on the back. It had a 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 2.0, Wi-Fi, and a USB 2.0 port. Apple launched the original iPhone in black.
