PT state airline Garuda Indonesia TBK managed to make a profit of 3.81 billion dollars or equivalent to 57.91 trillion rupees, assuming an exchange rate of 15,200 rupees in the first half of 2022.

In response, SOE Deputy Minister Kartika Wirjoatmodjo revealed that it was an accounting profit. According to him, this condition occurred due to the reversal of liabilities or obligations due to the settlement agreement in the suspension of debt payment obligations (PKPU).

However, Tiko said, the steps that have been taken to improve the state-owned company are going well.

Previously, President Director Garuda Indonesia Irfan Setiaputra explained that, since the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Garuda’s net worth in December 2021 was negative by $ 5.3 billion.

In December 2020, Garuda’s net profit was recorded at minus US $ 2.2 billion, then in December 2021 it was recorded at minus US $ 3.8 billion. Then in March there was a profit minus US $ 1.36 billion.

As of June 2022, Garuda posted a net profit of $ 3.81 billion. Irfan explained that this net profit was obtained from debt restructuring income with the approval of the peace deal in the company’s PKPU process which brought the net worth to $ 1.5 billion.

Meanwhile, in the 2021 annual financial report, Garuda Indonesia however, it suffered a loss of $ 4.16 billion or the equivalent of Rp 62.3 trillion.
