The Organ and Blood Doazón Agency (ADOS) will take the special donation campaign ‘We Are Olympic’ this Wednesday to Jesús Valverde Street in Baiona (Pontevedra).
Thus, a mobile ADOS unit will be stationed on this street, at the entrance to the Parador de Baiona, from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 21:00 to serve all those who wish to participate.
In addition, a display alluding to the Olympic Games will be placed on one side of the mobile unit and all donors will receive a t-shirt with the campaign slogan as a gift.
This initiative will be carried out in more than twenty Galician municipalities and is part of the special blood donation campaign in the summer months, a particularly sensitive period, since the summer months present additional difficulties in maintaining the volume of blood donations necessary to maintain the healthcare work of Galician hospitals.
ADOS has recalled that between 400 and 500 blood donations are needed every day and, in the summer months, due to the relocation of regular donors, it is necessary to reinforce the permanent call for solidarity that the Agency sends to the public.
Last year 2023, Baiona received a total of 404 blood donations, which represented a rate of 33 donations per 1,000 inhabitants per year.
