The Xunta buys 888,000 doses of the flu vaccine and 55,000 against pneumonia for 12.7 million euros
The Galician Government has approved this Thursday the exam calendar to access a total of 3,873 places in the Servizo Galego de Saúde (Sergas), which will be held between the third week of June 2023 and the first week of February 2024. In parallel The contest phase will go, which the regional Administration hopes to leave them all resolved “in October”.
Specifically, there are 5,688 places that the Galician health system will obtain in this public offer of employment (OPE) with the aim of leaving the temporary rate “below 8 percent”, as detailed by the president of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda at a press conference.
Of all these vacancies, 3,873 will be through competition-opposition, to which must be added another 1,815 exclusively by merit competition, that is, without examination. In total, there are more than 55,000 registered professionals.
Thus, the tests of the opposition phase are those that will take place between June of this year and February of next year, while the competitions -both those that accompany the oppositions and the processes that only evaluate merits- trust that are “resolved in October”.
This OPE includes places offered in the year 2022 with the objective of reaching 8 percent temporary employment and other processes that were pending to be called, to accumulate them for a matter of efficiency.
The competition-opposition exams will be held at the Silleda fairgrounds (Pontevedra) and will affect 65 categories and classes: 55 for statutory staff and 10 for civil servants.
In parallel, merit contests will be held that include vacancies in 67 categories of statutory personnel and three of civil servants. The president of the Xunta has detailed that this March the list of those admitted to this process will be released to be resolved before October.
PURCHASE OF MORE THAN 900,000 VACCINES
On the other hand, Rueda announced this Thursday that Sergas will buy a total of 880,000 doses of the flu vaccine and 55,000 improved pneumococcal vaccines for an amount that exceeds 12.7 million euros.
In this context, the president of the Xunta recalled that in 2022 Galicia expanded the child vaccination schedule and stressed that, in the 2023 campaign, protection for “the most vulnerable” will be increased with the 83,000 most purchased flu vaccines , specifically for those “over 80 years of age and people over 60 who live in residences”.
Likewise, he explained that the new pneumonia vaccine “is more powerful, with greater immune memory and will protect against 20 serotypes”, seven more than the current one. It will be intended for people over 65 years of age and patients at risk.
