BVB player Mateu Morey has taken the first small step on the way to a comeback. The Spaniard was operated on on his knee on Wednesday. The further procedure is open.
BVB right-back Mateu Morey had seriously injured his knee in the 5-0 win in the DFB Cup against Holstein Kiel, the first good news followed on Wednesday evening. “The operation was very successful,” wrote the Spaniard on Twitter and published a picture from the hospital bed.

The association still does not provide any information on the exact diagnosis. In a statement published by BVB on Twitter, only the word “acute intervention” is used. Further treatment will be “determined after the first healing phase has ended”. Another operation cannot be ruled out. So far, only licensed player manager Sebastian Kehl had confirmed that it was a “serious ligament and capsule injury”.
How long Morey will be absent from BVB is open. A deployment this year seems unlikely. Morey himself was optimistic. “The countdown to come back stronger has already begun!” He wrote on Twitter.
