The operation to remove out-of-use boats has started on the Port Cohé site in Le Lamentin

A vast operation to rehabilitate the Port Cohé site in Le Lamentin was launched on Thursday June 23, 2022 under the control of the CACEM (Community of agglomerations of the Center of Martinique). The first step is to remove around twenty out of order boats, on land or in the channel. (Report Maurice Violton and Patrick Jean-Guitteaud)

Today, the Port Cohé site has 19 wrecked or abandoned ships. These boats have been listed on the supra-coastal part of the CACEM.

They are particularly located at the level of the “Port Cohé” site and the Etang Z’Abricots marina, two public maritime domains, owned by the State, and transferred for management to the Agglomeration Community of Center de la Martinique (CACEM).

These ships represent a potential source of pollution for the surrounding environment (hydrocarbons, plastics, etc.)

The planned development on the Port Cohé site in Le Lamentin is part of a rehabilitation and development project.
