Bernardo and Arthur Lima are doing well and will now undergo six months of rehabilitation
(LaPresse) Two three-year-old Brazilian Siamese twins, born with their heads attached, were separated after an operation that lasted 27 hours. The extraordinary intervention was carried out by a team of the Estadual do Cérebro Paulo Niemeyer Institute in Rio de Janeir led by the head of the institute’s pediatric surgery, Dr. Gabriel Mufarrej, and by the pediatric surgeon Noor ul Owase Jeelani of the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. Bernardo and Arthur Lima, these are the names of the two children, underwent two and a half years of treatment, seven operations and nearly 100 doctors. After this last surgery they are doing well: now a six-month rehabilitation awaits them.
