The Indonesia FIFA U-20 World Cup Organizing Committee (INAFOC) is planning a grand opening 2023 U-20 World Cup. Wishnutama appointed to be in charge.
This plan is a request from the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) through a Presidential Decree (Keppres) and Presidential Instruction (Inpres) for the holding of the 2023 U-20 World Cup. From the Presidential Decree and Presidential Decree there was a change in the division of tasks, INAFOC focused only on packaging the event.
This was disclosed by the Menpora Zainuddin Amali after holding a meeting with PSSI at the federation office, GBK Arena, Thursday (19/1/2023). Currently, the federation is turning into the LOC, while the government (INAFOC) is now only the organizer of the event.
INAFOC then established communication with FIFA and managed to get the blessing of the world football body to hold a grand opening. The government is also ready to pour out funds to carry out this intention.
“This new presidential decree has added work LOC to PSSI so that INAFOC is in a supportive position, the plan is to make it festive and so on,” Amali told reporters.
“I don’t know yet, maybe there will be a Handover trophy from players in February, maybe, I don’t know when. It’s been a long time, from last year’s stone presidential decree,” he added.
Wishnutama, a figure who is widely known for his expertise in holding grand celebrations, was also appointed as the person in charge of the opening ceremony for the opening of the U-20 World Cup. As is well known, Wishnutama is a key figure in the success of the 2018 Asian Games.
Not only the opening, a similar plan is likely to be implemented for the closing ceremony. Indonesia is trying to give a new color to the U-20 World Cup, which usually doesn’t get as much exposure as the senior level.
“The excitement was the opening, there wasn’t one before. But the FIFA President (Gianni Infantino) has been allowed okay, that will handle Pak Wishnutama who is an expert in this field. It has been tested,” said Amali.
“So later we are waiting for a limited cabinet meeting, because previously it was not included, so now we are entering it,” he said.
“But don’t imagine that the excitement of the opening is the same as the seniors. This plan alone is progress. Previously, we were only allowed to have the first match as an opening,” he said again.
