The infrastructure that has now been set up by the President of the Republic, in the capital of the province of Cuanza-Sul, pays homage to the Cuban leader Raul Diaz Argüelles. With the health project, Cuanza-Sul region now has a hospital for very complicated surgeries, while also shortening the distance for more than 100 patients who need hemodialysis.
The Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, said that the gesture reinforces what she calls a “revolution” in the region, led by João Lourenço, President who, in Silvia’s view, Lutucuta, has been investing millions to ensure the health of the population. Angolan people.
According to the governor, who is now established, the big challenge is to go hand in hand with the local government to work on the process of humanizing its services. However, despite this condition, Minister Lutucuta is sure of one thing: the new hospital offers a welcoming and humane environment for users, families and professionals.
He therefore suggests that, for the first time, the province now has hemodialysis services, “ICU for adults and newborns and includes operating rooms with surgical capability high complex “, he reveals, when he announces that Sumbe, with this health initiative, benefits. the largest blood bank service in the public and private sector at regional level.

Then, the general director of the hospital, the physician Agostinho José Matiamba, described, moments before the establishment, the strengths of the unit. Matiamba begins by considering the opening of a hospital of this size to be historic, as Cuanza-Sul had never created the services it has now.
The person in charge reveals that the unit has an installed capacity of 200 beds and 1,114 staff, including 138 doctors and 200 from various specialties and 200 nurses who will ensure that the unit works to usual.
In other words, the hospital has technicians according to the level of complexity – putting pressure on the person in charge. “We all have our strengths. We have this complex hospital, from very complex imaging, very complex surgeries: we are talking here about general surgery, neurosurgery, urology, maxillofacial surgery”, said the person who above.

Others join these specialties as well, highlighting, among others, cardiology, physical rehabilitation of patients and endocrinology. Vehicles are provided to transport patients, especially for patients requiring hemodialysis. In this regard, the director of the hospital suggests that PR pays special attention to the health sector.
Inside the hospital
The President of the Republic, together with the First Lady Ana Dias Lourenço, visited the hospital’s facilities, receiving technical information from the medical team about the specificity of each region.
João Lourenço received information specific to the work and, when he could, asked them questions to get the necessary explanation. At the end of the visit, the Head of State offered three buses and ambulances to the Cuanza-Sul General Hospital Comandante Raul Diaz Argüelles. Construction on the hospital began in August 2021, on an area of 15,600 square meters.
The unit, which was undertaken by a company from the Mittrel Business Group, has an administrative block, morgue, residences, and was budgeted at 63 million euros – according to information obtained by this newspaper.
