The open-air concert season of Spīķeri quarter will be opened by Haralds Sīmanis and the group «Stūrī zēvele» / Article

Singer Haralds Sīmanis and the music group “Stūrī zēvele” will take the stage at the opening of the open-air culture program in Spīķeri quarter on Wednesday, July 28, the organizers informed.

The concert takes place in the program of the concert series “Peace”, which for the second year in a row goes to the spectators in Spīķeri quarter, offering to get acquainted with the creative activity of the Latvian alternative music scene and indulge in the charm of unaccustomed music.

On Wednesday, around 19.10, Haralds Sīmanis and the accompanying group will climb on the Spīķeri stage, while around 20.20 – the group “Stūrī zēvele”.

Admission to the concert will be free. Visitors will be required to present an identity document at the entrance together with a valid Covid-19 vaccination or disease certificate.

About musicians

Haralds Sīmanis is a Latvian singer. By profession – roofer. He did not receive a musical education, but learned to play the guitar and organ through self-study. Already in the 1970s, Sīmanis started collaborating with Arvīds Ulmi, whose poetry is still used in his songs. The musician has released several albums. One of his most popular compositions is the ballad “Lake”, which he performed in 1980 at the closing concert of the “Microphone Song Survey”, and after this performance, the artist gained recognition.

“Corner zeal” is indie/pop an association formed in 2006 in Kuldiga by schoolmates. Later, when the group’s active activity moved to Riga, its composition has changed several times. Currently, the group has five members – Elizabete Milta, Klāvs Lauls, Justīne Kuzņecova, Maija Ušča and Uldis Gedra. The band has released three studio albums – “Good Morning!” (2014), “Hello” (2016), as well as in 2020, the band released their third album with the natural name “Good evening”. During its existence, the band has performed at various Latvian music events, including the festivals “Positivus”, “Laba daba” and “Zemlika”.
