Ukroboronprom signed three agreements totaling $ 2.5 billion, the Ministry of Health agreed to supply new equipment to hospitals, and the governments of the two countries decided to strengthen commercial ties.
Ukraine and the United States signed a Memorandum of Understanding between governments regarding commercial cooperation. The corresponding document was signed during the visit of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the United States. This was announced on Friday, September 3, according to the Office of the President.
The memorandum was signed by First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Oleksiy Lyubchenko and US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo. The document aims to realize the mutual interest of the two countries in strengthening commercial ties to strengthen the welfare, security and economic growth in Ukraine and the United States by encouraging the commercial participation of American companies in the Ukrainian economy and Ukrainian companies in the American one.
It is noted that the parties plan to develop and implement commercial projects, as well as participate in government procurement in Ukraine and the United States. Key focus will be on energy cooperation, including supporting Ukraine’s goals for energy transition and decarbonization, infrastructure, digital economy development, defense, cyber security and healthcare.
The state concern Ukroboronprom signed three agreements totaling $ 2.5 billion. The documents relate to cooperation with American defense companies, in particular – Lockheed Martin Corporation, Harris Global Communications Inc. And Global Ordnance.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) on financing irrigation projects.
This agreement will allow attracting international investment for the restoration of state main canals, pumping stations and on-farm systems. The agreement creates conditions for attracting financing from the US Export-Import Bank in terms of medium and long-term guarantees, direct loans from Eximbank.
Also, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the American company Lindsay for the production of irrigation equipment in Ukraine.
In addition, the Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko concluded in the United States agreements on cooperation for the Ukrainian health care system with world market leaders, in particular, General Electric, Medtronic and MSD.
Thus, we agreed with Medtronic to expand bilateral cooperation in the fight against cardiovascular diseases and diabetes mellitus; the possibility of localizing the production of some of the company’s medical products in Ukraine within the framework of state support for projects (“investment”); attracting Ukrainian scientists and investing in research that can be carried out by Ukrainian scientific institutions.
An agreement was reached with General Electric on the technical provision of hospitals with the latest equipment as part of the modernization of medical institutions under the National Program “Big Construction” (both the constructed reception departments and the hospitals that are being designed).
Also, the Ministry of Health and MSD are discussing the possible supply of Molnupiravir, a candidate drug for the treatment of patients with COVID-19, which is now in the third stage of clinical trials.
Earlier it was reported that Vladimir Zelensky in the United States urged IT investors to actively cooperate with Ukraine… The country is open for investments in the IT sector in cooperation with American businesses, he said.
