The future head of the Kharkiv City Council, who will take office by Bulk voting on October 31, must have a clear pro-Ukrainian position. His actions should not even hint at a movement towards federalization.
This was told by the Deputy Head of the President’s Office Kirill Tymoshenko… According to him, Kharkiv is dangerously close to the Russian Federation, so the fate of the city almost entirely depends on who will head it.
“Kharkiv, in addition to being a large regional center, do not forget that there is a border with the Russian Federation and in the immediate vicinity there is a conflict zone,” Tymoshenko said in conversation with “Interfax-Ukraine”.
The politician also stressed that the Kharkiv mayor is obliged to develop infrastructure and fill the city’s budget.
“Mayors are not about politics. Many of them understand this and openly say that there is no need to go there. They choose mayors so that you can deal with the city, and not with all-Ukrainian politics. That is why such people have success in their cities, and they are often re-elected, “- explained Tymoshenko.
