The onset of winter creates sometimes chaotic conditions in the Odenwald

Odenwald (ots) –

In the night from Friday to Saturday (April 8th/April 9th), the control center of the southern Hesse police in Darmstadt received around 50 reports of obstructions caused by a blanket of snow, slippery roads, fallen trees and blocked roads with broken-down cars from 8:44 p.m. The very extensive clean-up work by the fire brigades is ongoing and is currently being carried out preferably on federal roads. Fortunately, as of now, no one was injured. In the Modau valley between Brandau and Lützelbach, a bus had to be allowed to continue up the incline by the gritting service. Many roads in the higher elevations of the Odenwald were impassable due to the trees that had fallen under the weight of the snow. In the Erbach valley near Heppenheim, three residents of a house had to be evacuated and housed in a hotel because of several large branches that had fallen on the roof. There were also power outages in the Oberzent and Hirschhorn areas. The level of the Neckar is also currently causing a flood wave for closures and the need to remove cars parked on the bank. manufactured: Steffen Pietschmann, police chief on duty
