The government will close schools, shops and service companies, and set a curfew.
“The second strict quarantine regime is the only known tool that works,” the chancellor said, stressing that the move was necessary to reduce the number of infections and avoid overcrowding hospitals.
“That’s the only way we can save Christmas,” Kurch said, hoping the restrictions could be eased before the holidays.
Partial quarantine has been in place since the beginning of November, when restaurants, bars, tourism businesses and cultural institutions were closed, while university students switched to distance learning.
