MANCHESTER UNITED – OMONIA NIKOSIA 1-0:
Erik ten Hag started with all his attacking aces on the pitch against Cypriot Omonia Nicosia, but the Premier League stars had enormous problems converting chances.
Omonia Nicosia dropped to sixth in the Cypriot league, but she really managed to make life miserable for the Premier League stars.
– It will shock the whole of Football Europe if Cypriot Omonia gets anything from Old Trafford, commented Viaplay’s Andreas Toft just before the end, when it started to become a real possibility that United would not have a boiling hole.
Three minutes into extra time, substitute Scott McTominay found space inside the 16-meter penalty area and hammered the ball into the net for United.

Much of the credit for United’s problems getting the ball into the net goes to Omonia Nicosia goalkeeper Francis Uzoho.
The 23-year-old, who is Nigeria’s first choice among sticks, was in the impossible corner, blocking every shot of the United stars.
United were the dominant team throughout the game and achieved a total of 34 finishes. 12 of them hit the mark and all 12 ended up in Uzoho’s clutches, until the 23-year-old finally had to be beaten by McTominay’s rocket in extra time.
After a double save, in which Uzoho first stopped Jadon Sancho, and then avoided Marcus Rashford’s return with a tiger jump soon after, Viaplay commentator Andreas Toft brought out the big superlatives.
– There’s Uzoho. He is a relief from fever. He’s having the evening of all time, Toft commented.
Cristiano Ronaldo was also clearly impressed by the Nigerian. After seeing his shot saved, the Portuguese couldn’t help but laugh along with the goalkeeper.
– And of course he is saved by Uzoho. And now they start laughing. He’s almost getting comedian, Toft commented.

The result means Manchester United consolidate their place as runner-up in Group E, with nine points from four games.
Real Sociedad, who lead the group, beat Sheriff Tiraspol while United fought against Omonia.
Alexander Sørloth gave the Spaniards the lead with his left-handed hammer just before half-time. The match finally ended 3-0.
Manchester United will be guaranteed promotion if they beat the aforementioned sheriff in the next match.
