BEIJING (AP) — The Olympic bubble reported no positives for the coronavirus on Friday, according to organizers of the Beijing Winter Games.
–
Since January 23, 265 people have tested positive for COVID-19 upon arrival at the airport in the Chinese capital and another 171 inside the Olympic bubble, for a total of 436 confirmed cases.
–
The bubble allows Games participants to bypass mandatory quarantine to enter China, but means their movements are strictly controlled. Everyone must pass a daily virus detection test and those who are positive are immediately isolated to prevent further contagion. In addition, the use of N95 masks is mandatory, except in the case of athletes during competitions.
–
Of the positives detected within the bubble, 68 were from athletes and coaches and 103 from other workers. In this closed environment, more than 1.7 million tests have been carried out.
