The Old’up association campaigns for “participatory aging”

The Old’Up association is campaigning for society looks at the elderly differently. It brings together more than 250 people in Paris and organizes weekly groups of
speech on social issues. Old’Up wants to give meaning and usefulness to life extension,
by promoting “participatory aging”.

The support of the Fondation de France enabled the distribution of 10,000 use kits
tablets for members of the association, isolated and confined alone in their homes or establishments. The user kits include an accompanying document as well as 4 practical sheets for easy handling of the tool. The major goal was, via the digital tool, to maintain social ties in times of confinement and isolation.

“In France there are only 10 to 15% who are truly dependent. A very large majority of the ‘old’ are not dependent”, explains the vice president of the association, Martine Gruère-Arnaud. “For us all the confinement was a shock and it confirmed this way of not knowing who the ‘old people’ are in France. They are for the most part independent, but above all the old are also members of society, active and interested in others more than in themselves, ”she adds.
