WASHINGTON DC, KOMPAS.com – Birds are considered to be oldest bird in the world have hatched eggs at the age of 70 years.
The oldest bird it is an albatross and is called Wisdom.
The bird welcomes its new cub on February 1 at Midway Atoll, United States of America ( AS), in North Pacific waters.
The US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) Pacific Region announced the news on February 6.

Initially, the biologist discovered Wisdom’s egg on January 29 as reported Sky News, Friday (5/3/2021).
According to the USFWS, Wisdom “bonded” with experts in 1956. Wisdom even outlived some scholars who classified it many years ago.

“At least (Wisdom) is 70 years old. We believe Wisdom has other friends,” said USFWS biologist Beth Flint.
He added, usually albatross is a bird loyal to one mate.

However, if the mate dies first, the albatross is likely to seek a new mate if necessary.
Wisdom’s current partner is a male albatross named Akeakami. Since pairing with Akeakami, Wisdom has been spawning since 2012.
Biologists on the island’s Pacific waters believe Wisdom has hatched 30 to 36 eggs in its lifetime.

Albatrosses only hatch an egg every few years and only one egg at a time.
Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge off the coast of Hawaii is the world’s largest colony of albatross.
The atoll is also home to the millions of birds that return to it each year during the breeding season.
