Today is the anniversary of the coup attempt known as G30S/PKI. General Gatot reappeared bringing up the issue of the rise of the PKI. He linked the issue to the disappearance of the diorama statues of the PKI destroyers at the Kostrad Headquarters. It turns out that Gatot’s suspicion is incorrect.
“This is a seasonal song that is always sung again,” said political communication expert Adi Prayitno, observing Gatot’s action, Thursday (30/9/2021).
General (Ret.) Gatot Nurmantyo is a former TNI Commander. This is not the first time he has spoken about the revival of the PKI, but since 2018. This way of political communication by playing old songs is considered no longer effective in Indonesia today.
“It’s no longer effective. The PKI issue is an elite issue. People don’t really care about things that are ideological in nature, people now want to be able to eat, be able to work, be able to send their children to school. The issue of the revival of the PKI is an old song being played again,” said Adi, who is a Executive Director of Political Parameters and Lecturer of Political Science at UIN Jakarta.
This year, Gatot assessed that communism had entered the TNI. The proof, according to him, is that the statues of Major General Suharto, General AH Nasution, and Colonel Sarwo Edhie Wibowo at the Dharma Bakti Museum, Kostad Headquarters are gone.
“I received information, however, I am a former Kostrad Commander, only recently was conveyed that the diorama is not only a statue of Pak Harto, a statue of Pak Sarwo Edhie, and Pak Nasution but also the seven heroes of the revolution are no longer there, and specifically in Pak Harto’s room reflects the crackdown. The G30SPKI rebellion was controlled by Pak Harto at his headquarters,” said Gatot at a webinar entitled ‘TNI Vs PKI’ last Sunday (26/9).

He then asked the Army, Navy, and Air Force to unite to clean up the PKI’s infiltration into the TNI. He asked the TNI to clear the ranks of the indications of infiltration.
“I repeat, this means that there has been an infiltration within the TNI, on this occasion I tap the patriotism and chivalry of the soldiers of the TNI AD, TNI AL, and TNI AU to jointly cleanse the ranks of the TNI from infiltration and influence that will damage the souls of TNI soldiers. and it can cause a traitor at least or even sell an institution just to sell a position and it will lead to a denial, an oath to God. Clean everything so that the dark events of the past do not happen again, “said Gatot.
