The Official Redmi A2: Xiaomi’s Latest Device Available to All

This week Xiaomi introduced its new mid-range smartphones globally – the Redmi Note 12 Series. But Xiaomi’s sub-brand didn’t stop there, and this Friday it discreetly presented its new devices for the entry-level range.

We talk about the new Redmi A2 e Redmi A2+, intended to fill the segment around €100. These are devices that all users can buy, but which are not necessarily the most attractive.

Redmi A2 will be commanded by MediaTek Helio G36

Both the Redmi A2 and the Redmi A2+ are powered by the MediaTek Helio G36 processor, and supported by 2 or 3 GB of RAM. Additionally we have 32 GB of expandable storage via microSD.

Both feature a 720-by-1600-pixel 6.52-inch screen. In both cases you can expect an 8 MP rear camera supported by a modest QVGA lens. On the front we have a 5 MP sensor for selfies.

Redmi A2 still charge by microUSB

The smartphone’s battery is 5000 mAh, and it arrives with 10 W charging. In the box we find a 10 W charger, but the bad news is that the charging port for smartphones is still microUSB.

The equipment arrives with Android 12 Go, a version that we can already call outdated. It remains to be seen whether the manufacturer will release updates for the equipment in the future. Of note is the presence of a 3.5 mm jack input.

Between the Redmi A2 and the Redmi A2+ there seem to be no major differences, highlighting the fact that in the Plus model we have a fingerprint sensor located on the back of the terminal. Both devices arrive with a similar look to the previous generation, and will be sold in black, blue and green.

Prices for the global market have not yet been revealed, but should be around €100 and €130.
