2003 Starbucks CEO Peter Dux, who came to the company with a business degree and an MBA from Stanford, offered a new idea for a fall espresso. By chance, Dux and his former Cardinal basketball teammates used to alternate sipping espresso with pumpkin pie. Starbucks has currently sold more than 350 million pumpkin spice bars in 50 countries.
ingredients
(for 2 drinks)
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
Pumpkin Pie Spices (1/2 teaspoon spice mix consisting of: pinch ground cloves, 1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon, 2 teaspoons ground ginger, 1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg)
Sugar to taste
2 tablespoons of pumpkin puree
2 cups of milk
1/2 cup of strong coffee
Whipped cream for decoration
Preparation
- Add sugar, pumpkin puree and milk to the pan, mix.
- When the mixture is homogeneous, heat it to medium temperature.
- Before it comes to a boil, remove from the heat and add the rest of the ingredients: coffee, spice mix and vanilla extract.
- Apply whipped cream and sprinkle with spices.
