The head of the International Policy Bureau of the Office of the President of Poland Jakub Kumoh said the role of Ukrainian nationalist leader Stepan Bandera in the Volyn massacre in 1943 was not so clear. He made the corresponding statement on the radio.
“The situation is different with respect to those who are directly responsible or guilty of the Volyn crime. Here it is distinct. Stepan Bandera was in a concentration camp at that time, ”Kumokh said on the radio.
In Poland, Bandera is considered the ideologist of the 1943 Volyn massacre, when Ukrainian nationalists attacked about 150 Polish villages. The country called what was happening a genocide. According to various estimates, 100-130 thousand people died as a result of the massacre.
