The supply of trains to the Coast will be limited again next weekend, West Flanders Governor Carl Decaluwé said on Tuesday, after consultation with SNCB, the offices of the Ministers of Mobility and the Interior, the mayors of coastal municipalities served by a station and local police zones.

During the consultation, the measures taken last weekend to contain the influx of tourists arriving by train were assessed and these seem to have worked well. The measurements will be reviewed every weekend.
It was fairly calm on the coast all weekend. “The corona measurements have been correctly observed by travelers and coastal tourists. The efforts of the authorities and the SNCB have yielded the expected result ”, explains Carl Decaluwé. Bad weather also contributed to this. In addition, the train occupancy rate remained below 80%, a rate that will be kept under review in the days to come.
“Everyone is welcome at the Coast. However, you have to prepare yourself via the influx barometer before leaving. If for a place, the barometer is in yellow (crowded), it is better to opt for another coastal destination which is in light green (calm) or in green (pleasant) ”, concludes Carl Decaluwé.
