By age group, the population aged 45 and over increased by 11.0% (195,700), followed by the population aged 25 to 44 with 1.4% (36,700); while, it decreased by 4.1% (-30,700) in the population under 25 years of age.
The employed population with non-university higher education increased by 8.6%
The INEI reported that the employed population with non-university higher education increased by 8.6% (88,800), followed by those who studied university education by 4.4% (65,100), those with primary education or a lower level. in 3.4% (12 thousand 200), as well as those with secondary education in 1.6% (35 thousand 600).
Population employed in Services grew by 6.4%
In the mobile quarter of analysis compared to the same mobile quarter of 2023, the employed population increased in the Services sector by 6.4% (183,900), Commerce by 4.5% (49,700); while, it decreased in Construction 9.4% (-37 thousand 300) and Manufacturing by 0.5% (-3 thousand 400).

The INEI announced that, in the rolling quarter November-December-January 2024, the unemployment rate in Metropolitan Lima was 7.2%, being 0.8 percentage point less than in the similar rolling quarter of 2023 (8 ,0%). It is estimated that 409,700 people sought employment in Metropolitan Lima in this quarter of analysis.
It should be noted that unemployment affected women more than men. Thus, 8.6% of economically active women were unemployed and 5.9% of men. By age groups, unemployment affected the young population in a greater proportion (15.9%).
Average monthly income per job rose by 6.8%
In the moving quarter of analysis, the average monthly income from work in Metropolitan Lima was 1926.1 soles, increasing by 6.8%, compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
The average monthly income in the population between 25 and 44 years old grew by 10.8%
